Top 3 Web Hosting Companies For UK Users

Choosing a web hosting company is one of the most important decisions you will make before setting up a website or blog. You will of course want a web host which is reliable but at the same time you do not want to be paying out an arm and a leg every month.

In this article I will be telling you about some of the best web hosting companies I have used, from the point of view of a UK user.

Heart Internet – As web hosts go, Heart Internet has it all, and is definitely my number one choice for client sites. It is affordable, very well supported and has three very well explained hosting options, so it is easy to decide which package best suits your needs. Heart also has a vast array of 1 click installs such as WordPress, Opencart and Joomla, to name a few.

If you are looking for a web host to set up multiple sites then Heart offers a fantastic reseller package which is currently on offer at £1 for the first month (Normal price £29.99 pm). This reseller package offers you unlimited space to host unlimited sites, which is perfect if you are looking to set up your own hosting business or a number of niche sites. Two topics we will be covering in future GeekTuts articles.

123Reg – Although 123Reg is classed foremost as a domain management company they have in recent years invested heavily into the hosting side of their business. Like Heart Internet they offer 3 pages ranging from £2.49 pm to £6.99 pm. It also offers many of the top 1 click installs which make setting up opensource powered sites like WordPress so easy. If you are looking for an even easier route they offer a web builder or ecommerce package.

If you are looking for web hosting for a personal blog or brochure site, that is very reasonably priced and is easy to use then 123Reg fits the bill. Having said that, if I was setting up a site for a large business, which would be getting large amounts of monthly traffic, I would probably opt for a more durable host.

1and1 – Feature rich and affordable 1and1 offers a solid platform for anyone looking to host their first site. At the time of this article going live 1and1 have been pushing their web builder package with prime time ad spots on British TV.

1and1 also offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all their products.

As I pointed out at the start of this article, choosing a good web host is critical to the success of a website. All the web hosts above have been used first hand by myself and definitely have the GeekTuts seal of approval.
